BY CAMRON SLESSOR (@camronslessor) THE ADVOCATE The North-West Thunder’s clash against their traditional rivals, the Hobart Chargers this Saturday will be a big occasion for the club on and off the court.
The highly anticipated SEABL match will also act as the North-West Tall Timbers Thunder’s annual fundraiser game for cancer research, which is held in memory of former SEABL and NWBU player, Todd Nothrop.
Nothrop was a great friend to so many people in basketball circles on the North-West Coast before he passed away from cancer at a very young age.
The Thunder will be rattling donation tins in the foyer at Schweppes Arena on Saturday night and are asking fans of the club and the game to be extra generous, dig deep and support this worthy cause.
All money raised will go straight to Cancer Council and the funds will stay within Tasmania.
Anyone who donates more than $2 will receive a pair of yellow football socks and the club will also have wrist bands on offer for anyone that donates as well.
Get along this week and find a seat early in what is expected to be one of the biggest games for the North-West Thunder this season.
The biggest crowd for the year is expected with the hope of a full house at the stadium.
The North-West Thunder encourage all basketball fans to be a part of it, make a noise and enjoy the second last home game of the season, and give back to a worthy cause.
Tip-off for the SEABL clash will be from 7.30pm on Saturday at Schweppes Arena in Ulverstone.
