ALEX FAIR THE ADVOCATE The North-West Thunder will again have some NBL1 All-Stars representation this year following the selection of the squad to tour Thialand next month.
Thunder captain Joe Chilcott has been included in the squad, and will be one of two Tasmanian based players making the trip along with Hobart’s Callum Barker.
Coached by 2019 NBL1 men’s championship coach David Biwer, the NBL1 Thailand All-Stars will face Zhejiang Guangsha Lions on September 7 and Shanxi Dragons on September 10.
The team will then take part in the World Invitation Basketball Tournament takes place from September 14-18 in Thailand.
The team announcement follows on from the All Stars squad that was announced for the NBL Blitz Thunder’s Reyne Smith (who was part of Australia’s recent successful under 17 team) and former Thunder and Sydney Kings development player Lachie Barker included.
Also in that squad was Zac White, who played NBL1 with the now defunct Hobart Huskies and is a teammate of Smith’s at Penguin in the NWBU, with Thunder coach Sam Armstrong to be an assistant.
