ALEX FAIR THE ADVOCATE Taran Armstrong and Reyne Smith have made the cut for Mark Radford’s Australian Under-17 team for the Oceania Championships.
The North-West Coast duo made the final team following the weekend’s selection camp in Canberra, but there was no room in the women’s team for Sharn Hayward.
The tournament, which will be held in New Caledonia from August 19-24, is the first step for the 2021 FIBA Under-19 World Cups.
The Australian teams will be aiming to finish in the top two of the championships to advance to next year’s under-18 Asian Championships, with success there to see them earn qualification for the under-19 world cups.
